Need a bit of a hand with this one guys.

Trying to call a friend from Australia who is still using their Aussie number. She's in Cote D'azur in France, which if my telecommunications guide is correct, should have the area code of 5. Coupled with France's international code of 33 and I think you have to put either one or two 0's before the international code.

Anyway I've tried the various combinations of:

00335
0335
0033
033

With no luck! Whenever she texts me her number is fronted by +61 which removes the 0 from her number. However +61 does not seem to be in any way a French area code according to the internet/my book???

HELP :dizzy:

Any time I'm working abroad folk in the UK just call my mobile as usual, and provided I've set it up to roam they can reach me. So I would still try the usual +61 number.

Just gave that a try mate and i was put through to a pre recorded message saying that this number is unallocated and I have to go to some website if I wish to purchase it. Very confusing.

Also figured out that 61 is an Australian area code but I have no idea what the + substitutes, if anything?

If I dial home from an overseas landline the number starts 01144, with 44 being the international code for the UK. From a mobile the + replaces everything in front of the 44. I've a couple of Aussie numbers in my mobile and they start with +61 followed by the number with the first 0 dropped, and that has always worked fine. Cannot help betond that - sorry.

The + generally substitutes in for "00" :agree: (if that helps at all)

Thanks for the help guys, I managed to get in touch with her afterall:thumbsup:

It was infact 00 to dial from the UK followed by 61 as she's using her Aussie mobile, didn't even need a French area code!
