Has no one else read this story? I thought it was a joke when I read it yesterday.
This country is turning into a joke. Getting bouncers to issue fines for unruly behaviour, no doubt to save the police time.
I understand the principle but some bouncers are pricks at the best of times.

How the hell do people stop this kind of ****? We live in a democracy but it would seem that we only live in a democracy at election time and have no say over anything at any other time :grr::grr::grr:

Thankfully it just applies to England and Wales. Hopefully sanity will prevail up here.

That's the thing. Bouncers are pricks at the best of time. As soon as someone gives them a bit of cheek about not being let in they're going to try and issue you with a fine. They're on more of a power trip than the police with their 'you're no getting in with trainers on', 'no t-shirts' etc etc whilst there are scores of people in the club dressed the same.
They'll also have access to a POLICE database and will be able to retrieve information about people's criminal records etc. This is a complete joke and the biggest issue.
A couple of months back I was in Siglo with my mates and one of my mates had inadvertently passed over a fake note, the bouncers took him though the back room, told him to admit he done it deliberately and pay them with another note. He refused because it was a genuine error. The called the police and whilst taking him outside a bouncer 6 4+ picked him up and dropped him on his face knocking him unconcious.
Around 14 police officers came, the bouncer wasn't arrested whilst my mate was taken to hospital where he spent the night. At the same time he had all of his money confiscated by the police (around £140). The CCTV had funnily enough 'not been recording' at the time and no action was taken against the bouncer. There were around 6 witnesses who witnessed it, including a resident from across the road who was so appalled the came over to give a statement.
The police held onto my friends money for over two weeks before returning it without issue. He phoned the station everyday to be told that the officer dealing with it was busy or not working at that time.

Oh I do agree, and I meant it when I said I would be bankrupt with the amount of 'altercations' with bouncers I've had over the years!! Granted, it's sometimes been partly my fault, but their attitudes in general do nothing to calm situations down and in my experience are more likely to make people worse.
There are of course those that are ok, but the others who seem to think they are amazing with young stupid lassies hugging them and all the rest of it are the ones that do my head in.
This is a joke. The majority of bouncers are tossers who enjoy ruining folks night as they have a ****** gig themselves.
As the poster above me said - they are always hugging 17 y/o girls, who need no or very little ID to get into clubs and somehow I reckon these fines that will be issued will be to 99% males.
You hear too many stories like the one above about bouncers abusing the (very little) 'authority' that they have so no doubt will milk these fines 'till they're dry. Rather the *****ing Gustapo was in charge of Pubs/Clubs :greengrin

I've got a pal who is a bouncer.
One night there was a kid who was pretty drunk and being a nuisance in the club, so he took him out the back and asked him to do 20 star jumps and he would let him back in, which he did.
That's a man with a great sense of humour.
Bouncers aren't all bad.

They're not and some are okay. There was a big guy called Shermack (something like that). He used to work at the Tron and the Blackbull grassmarket. Giant Polish guy who would smash most guys with a left miss but he was a good laugh and wasn't an arse to people.
However, I'd say that most of them are on a power trip and should not be given access to police databases etc.
A few bouncers I've know are mates with some dodgy guys and if these guys could get their hands on police databases etc it wouldn't be the greatest thing!

Agree with Woody. There are obvious exceptions but most of those power-tripping cretins are the last people on Earth any sane society would give law enforcement powers to.
I await them recruiting the next batch of High Court judges from Kickback or Section N of the Wheatfield Stand.

Right, most bouncers are frustrated policemen and absolute jackasses, but so are A LOT of drunken ********s they have to deal with nightly. Bouncers are like referees - wear black, hate their lives but have managed to weasel their way into a position of power.
It is frustrating, but there's no point in arguing/giving them cheek, it's not as if they are going to change their mind, and you know what's coming your way if you do, even before they were given these admittedly excessive powers.
Before or after these new rules, the same rules apply re: how to deal with d!ckhead bouncers. Walk away, knowing that he hates his life, and you have more mates with you on that night out than he has in the entire world :greengrin
