View Full Version : English Haters opt for Bigot......

I see that the SNP have opted for a Bigot to represent them at the upcoming Glasgow North East By Election. Not content with emptying our prisons, they now choose a cult member who discriminates against Women, Gays and Protestants to "represent" the electorate of Glasgow North East.

Fantastic stuff CG . Back on top form with some of your very best pape bashing :faf:
I dont know how much you know about Opus Dei, outside of the pages of the Da Vinci Code , but id recommend the book Opus Dei by John Allen which is a very interesting history of that sect written by a non member. He is however a papist so probably not to be trusted
Opus Dei certainly dont rock my boat , if they did id be sending Silas the monk round to see you :greengrin. Im more of an Illuminati gadgie :cool2:

If the SNP abolish council tax and push for getting Scotland games live on the beeb. Then I'm all for them. Can't be any worse than the limp-wristed capitalist sell-outs that are 'New' Labour.
I am English too.

Nah! I think he deserves it, why would anyone defend him? he is after all a bigot. Or is it okay to discriminate against Woman and Gays?

Just out of passing interest, would you have any issues with a member of the Orange Lodge standing for office, or a senior Freemason, or a member of the Muslim Council of Britain?

I ask "Just out of passing interest, would you have any issues with a member of the Orange Lodge standing for office, or a senior Freemason, or a member of the Muslim Council of Britain?", and you take that as blaming them for some -as yet unidentified, unspecified - something?
Your beef seems to be on this person being bigoted based on their religious affiliation. I was merely wondering if you had a similar view with everyone seeking to gain office with an overtly religious outlook of any variety.

I am still waiting for someone to tell me whether this Kerr character is a fit and proper person to be a custidian of our country given that he is a bigot. Not sure what this has got to do with Orangemen, Freemasons and the Muslim Council of Britain. I don't see them standing in this by election. Kerr is standing, hence me highlighting his bigotry.
It would appear that he is a snob aswell http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/2009/07/21/snp-by-election-candidate-david-kerr-branded-snob-after-university-slur-86908-21536804/

Other than the SOS article - which does not at any point state that he is a discriminatory bigot - do you have any other evidence whatsoever for this guy being all the things you claim(which he may or may not be, but I have seen no evidence so far of it).
It is reasonable to assume from your first post that your objections to him are based on him being a catholic and a member of Opus Dei. If that is the basis for your anger, then I'm afraid it does somewhat suggest you are the bigot unless you agree that anyone with strong faith-driven motivation is also unfit to hold office, hence my question.

I actually take exception to the term "English Haters", can you provide any evidence that the SNP is anti-english?
I actually know at least 2 members of the SNP who are English.
My understanding is the the SNP are anti-union not anti English or anti-anyone else for that matter.
I'd also like to see you supply some quotes which prove that David Kerr is actually a bigot....I would think that if anything he is guilty of either naivety or of having a pretty poor speech writer or just a very bad sense of humour.

You're quite an angry chap aren't you.
So, someone belongs to an organisation that is openly (and I would suggest unapologetically) anti-abortion, anti-contraception, anti-homosexuality, and therefore they should not be permitted to stand for office? I would say that that this actually the opposite of a conflict of interest, unless he chooses to keep his views secret, which he clearly has not done. He is standing on a platform where people can choose him on the basis of both his wider political views and a good understanding of his personal motivations.
Unless you can come up with something approaching a coherent argument against him*, other than what appears to be an uninformed rant based on prejudice, it will be you that looks the bigot.

Strangely you can actually join opus dei if you are a non-catholic (as a cooperator) wonder if that's a bit like being a social member of a golf club.....do the Orange Order allow non-protestants in with a similar standing...no I didn't think so.

I would have to say yes, Is he going to fairly represent his Gay constituents? His intellectual snobbery is there for all to see, so is he going to fairly represent those who fall short of his academic yardstick? As for women, surely, given that he is a member of an organisation who think that women are only good for doing domestic chores, then he can't possibly be fit for office.

Women and men share the same dignity as children of God and are equally called to heroic virtue by their baptism. Among the faithful of the Prelature, women and men share the same spirit, work in parallel apostolates, and have the same commitment to sanctify their work and family life; they also undertake identical responsibilities in governing and providing formation within Opus Dei.
I have done a bit of reading on them in the last few months out of intrigue - yip because of the da vinci code!! and I cant find it anywhere saying they think of women like what you have written. I have taken a quote from their website

So, essentially anyone who has an opinion isnt fit for office.
And could you find just one direct quotation from this bloke that says that he thinks women are only fit for domestic chores.
Your sweeping generalisations and assumptive conclusions are breathtaking.
What would constitute someone who is fit for office, in your eyes.
Let me think.
Someone who represents the BNP? No - Obviously will not have any truck with constituents who arent WASPS
Someone from the Tories? No - despise the working class.
Liberals: Tree huggers, clearly read books and are too wishy washy to represent big business
New Labour then? No. Are you mad - only in it for themselves or are radical lefties who hate success, enterprise and capitalism.
The Greens? Won't represent car owners.
So, by your mangled thinking, no-one can ever be fit for office because no-one can ever represent there constituents perfectly evenly because they have opinions. Everyones a bigot.

That's the key point here!! Luckily in this country we have the freedom to believe what we want, and practice our beliefs as long as they are all within the law.
As to him being anti gay, there is no direct evidence for this and if he follows his Bible it does say hate the sin, and not the sinner.
A democracy allows people from all backgrounds, rich, poor, christian, atheist, black, white etc to stand for parliament. There is no such thing as a truly impartial politician.

The BNP put up racists as candidates, i dont like them, but i dont have to vote for them. You dont have to vote for this guy, the point of democracy is if you dont like what the person stands for you dont vote for them. Is it that hard to grasp? Everyone has differnt opinions and although i see everyone as equals some people dont so in turn i wont vote for those people.

Don't be confused, it's not me that's standing in a By Election. I wouldn't be a fit and proper person to be an MP, because I wouldn't be able treat all my constituents the same. In my "hypothetical" surgery, I would tend to help the people that I thought deserved the most help.

You are being a wind-up merchant by:
a) Admitting that you are a bigot
b) Failing to back up a single claim
c) Making pathetic arguments such as "he's a snob"
d) Spouting obscene, prejudiced pish
You've done well by getting two pages of posts by way of reaction. I'm not going to fuel whatever warped jollies you get out of this by responding any more.
Tempting though it may be, I would very strongly recommend that no-one else does either.
Let's hope that they can make their own minds up and avoid your recommendations. I agree wth Hibsbollah, I think it's a good thread.

I thought, given the amount of support for the SNP in these parts, it would have been nice to see the reaction and opinions regarding this man. As usual, how wrong I was. Woe betide anyone critical of the Nats.
Anyway maybe they can forgive me......then again maybe not, they still havn't forgiven that nasty Ian Murray for making a rude sign at them.
A lot of thin skinned people about.
Opinions? We don't know much about him tbh. He is a catholic, standing for the nationalists in a by election. That's about all we know. And for some reason, you have decided to go crazy about this guy based on this information alone.
Here's news for you; If you don't like the Nats/you don't like catholics you don't have to vote for them, it's a democracy.

Reading this thread, I think the problem is you're not explicitly criticical of the SNP, more of a religious group if I'm getting this correct. Although if that is true, I'm assumiung the case you're making is "guilty by association"?
If you'd truly be interested in people's opinions, maybe you could explain in some detail what this guy has actually said that you object to?

Nah, I like this thread. Corrie greens admirable stand against papery japery and all round bigotry should be supported...
You are quite correct hibsbollah. There is far too much papery japery on this site and I cant understand why the atheists, agnostics and Protestants who make up the bulk of our support dont back our resident defender of the faith. Let this kind of thing go too far and before you know it our club will be owned by a guy who makes donations to the SNP and is a Romanist :grr:

To be fair CG has given us his in depth analysis of Mr Kerr. See post 32 where hes called him "a cock" . I sometimes think his public expect far too much of Corrie .... sentences .... cogent arguments .... that kind of thing.

Who me or the SNP guy? Hope it's me you are referring to as I would be flattered. I wouldn't want you to think anything else of me. You would do well to remember that at least "I know i'm a bigot and am quite comfortable with it". It's a shame so many others opt for denial and dress their bigotry up as smart arse fake moralistic bollocks.
Toot, toot, I've found myself a trumpet.

Personally, I miss Yeoman Janice Rand and all the raging pish that his/her posts inevitably generated. Unless CG and YJR are one and the same poster! That would be kind of cool.
There`s just too much pointless anger here, about very little indeed, and it`s all coming from the OP. Perhaps that`s what this whole thread is about, just hitting out at something relatively unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
CG, I recommend taking up a nice hobby to work it all out, such as making model airplanes and boats. It`s like a fitness workout for your capacity for patience. Very therapeutic, reduces your tendency to get worked up about hee-haw.

:grr:Why are you patronising the model boat making fraternity? It is a serious activity deserving respect. I think youre showing you're unfit for public office, and would clearly be unable to represent the interests of all of your constituents if you chose to run for MP:bye:

I was saying that making model boats would be a thoroughly good idea, but in another sense, you`re right, of course: in singling out the model boat making fraternity, I have shown my hand and may be unduly influenced to reduce import taxes on superglue, matchsticks, glass bottles and the like. I humbly announce my intention never to stand as an MP.
