Stupid, stupid, stupid.

He's a science teacher, for crying out loud. He should have set up a lab accident, slipped into the store cupboard, come rushing out when he heard the bang and tried frantically to administer CPR to the expiring corpses.

That way the kids would have got the blame, he'd have been a hero, and the police wouldn't have been involved.

Going after them with a blunt instrument in front of witnesses?

I ask you! What are teachers like these days?

To be fair, it shows a good aptitude for relationship skills by the teacher, he got his point across in a way they'll understand. Should probably have stabbed him and got some extra street cred and would have been seen as 'hard as ****', 'mental' etc etc.

I've not read anymore on the story but it doesn't suprise me that teachers flip from time to time. I've seen it myself where teachers get constantly ribbed, threatened etc by people. One of my old art teachers grabbed a pupil by the throat which was fair game IMO. Although I appreciate AM is going a bit far.

Teachers were always hitting pupils with blunt instruments in front of witnesses in my day although the one that used a bunsen burner as a flame thrower went a bit far.He was the one that used to fill a hydrochloric acid bottle with water and drink it and then challenge us by handing out the real stuff.Think he went on to be a headmaster-happy days.

I can't really condone an attempted murder charge but it will be interesting to hear during the forthcoming trial whether the teacher had to put up with any kind of abuse from any of the pupils.

I can always remember my high school days and there were quite a number of people in my classes who would shout and swear at certain teachers, I wouldn't have blamed them if they had lost it for a second and resorted to using physical force in response.

However, it would seem that this incident is a bit more serious than the teacher simply losing the plot and giving the pupil a little slap.

I look forward to following the trial.
