Is there anyone in professional sport going through a harder time than this guy just now?
2 months ago, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, forcing him to take a bit of a break before competing in the US Open. I believe he won't play in the British Open, for the same reason.
That news was compiled today by the announcement that his mother has been diagnosed with the same disease.
There isn't a nicer guy on the professional tour than Phil - at the end of his round, good or bad, he'll stand and sign autographs until everyone has been seen to - he'll speak freely and interact with fans, media and fellow pro's.
No chance of him playing for a while now and my thoughts are with him and his family :boo hoo:
