Any .net members involved with the TA or have you been in the past?

It's something i've been thinking about doing for a while now and was looking for peoples thoughts on it?

I was in The Royal Engineers up at Lanark Road a good few years ago.

Had a great time although the chance of seeing "action" was limited at the time except for Northern Ireland.

If I had my time all over again I would have joined up with the Signals or Paras.

Go for it, especially if you dont mind being called a STAB from regular squaddies.

STAB being Stupid TA Bast..d :greengrin

My gaffer is a captain with the TA and is always at us to join. If you need any info the web site for the army has plenty on it. One thing I would say, the TA is like the regulars in that its something you should really only do if its something that you're not going to regret

I have been in TA for past 19 years and currently serving with an Infantry unit.

If you are serious thinking about it the best advice I can give is to have a look at all the different regiments ans see what they offer before deciding which one to join.

The recruitment process is very time consuming if you work full time but if you are unemployed, summer / winter challenge may be the way to go.

The TA is not for everyone but I haven't met anyone who has regretted joining, the only way to find out if it's for you is to give it a go.

If you have any other questions, just ask.
