expecting a classic meeting tonight (early start) - first race is a 5PM I think.
for those who don't know what it's all about but might switch on...
500cc bikes with no brakes, fixed gear but can be changed in the pits inbetween races. Runs on methanol and Castrol R racing oil.
4 lap, 4 man races with th epoints being 3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd, SFA for anything else.
the aim on the night is to qualify for the latter knockout semi finals(1st two go through) to the final.
points double up latterly and the acculated points from all GPs determine the World Champion.
The main contenders are :
Nikki Pedersen(Denmark) is current word champ and tough as nails
Emil Sayfutdinov(Russian) is the youngest rider at 19, current U21 champ and spectacular - even dangerous..!!
Jason Crump (born in UK) of Aussie parents races for OZ but always does well in the UK.
Greg Hancock(US) oldest bloke on the circuit - classy, very skilled , hard but fair.
Tomas Gollob (Poland) - Mr Unpredictable in both terms of individual races and the meetings in general. when in the mood is simply unstoppable, as he will ride closer to the fence than anyone else.
The Brits- Scott Nicholls has been crap this year, Edward Kennet is not good enough yet and Chris Harris has found some good form these last couple of weeks so podium spot his best hope.
I'll give you a couple of race winner tips later for the gamblers who have nothing much else to follow today...:greengrin
