When do tickets for next year's Open at St Andrews go on sale? I know that tickets are pretty easy to get most years. Do I need to make sure I order tickets early or are tickets for St Andrews also easy to get?

Tickets for the Open are normally available around October/November with discounts available for early purchasers. (eg you'll get cheaper rates if you purchase prior to 31st January)
If you get the opportunity, I'd thoroughly recommend a visit to the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond in the week preceding "The Open". It's a wonderful venue with great viewing areas for the spectators. It also provides excellent value for money (about £25 to £30 daily admission).

There is ALWAYS walk up gates for entry into the Open. You certainly won't lose out if you're over for it, as you can get in every day. The only benefit for buying early is the marginally reduced cost.

Here's their website address - it's worth keeping an eye on as that's where the ticket information will first appear.

As a follow up, how strict are they with the 21 age limit for concessions? If someone is 21 when the tickets are bought but 22 when the tournament is held, is that a problem? I'm assuming that there are so many people that they won't do checks.

They're usually more worried about making sure nobody has cameras or mobile phones to be honest. I got a Student Concession despite not having my card one day, so I'd imagine it'll be fine.
