I know Woods has something in the region of 19 (source, Tiger Woods 2009, Wii ), but I don't know if anyone betters that...

Hmmm - I assume you mean Mancil Davis then?

I know his figures are considered a PGA record, but I don't buy it, as 9 of his aces were scored before he turned 17 and became a pro.

What is the highest score ever recorded over par for a single hole in the history of professional golf?

Some of those actually exceed the record by a long way, but due to them not being professional/professional tournaments, they're not listed from where I got my answer, which was the PGA website record section.

The highest single-hole score I can find a record of Ray Ainsley scored a 19 on the par-4 No. 16 hole at Cherry Hills Country Club in 1938

Its either 23, 25 or 28. I cant remember which though. The golfer is Tommy Armour and the amazing thing was he was either Current US Open Champion or went on to win it the following time it was played. A bit scatter gun but the answer is in there.

Well done Alex.

He had won the US Open the week before, and shot a 18 over par at the Shawne Invitational the following week!

I've passed it on the road to somewhere (!) and remember the name. It's been open for about 20 to 30 years I think.

They've just had a telegram from the Queen but reckon that golf has been played there for about 400 years.
