Is it worth changing over from Virgin Media to Sky or is it six and half a dozen?

There has been a few threads on this before but Sky is miles better IMHO.

Sky HD+ is simply the mutts nuts compared to Virgin.

I prefer Virgin media. If you are going to leave call them. You will get a deal. For me the down side with Sky is that when anything goes wrong you get charged for it with Virgin you dont.

How does Sky work if you're in a tenement?

You get Sky to install a dish on the roof and fire a couple of cables down the outside of the building, through the wall into your living room and before you know it you are in HD heaven :greengrin

Fair enough you own the sky box and have to buy a new one if (when!) it buggers up but what else can possibly make Virgin preferable to Sky?

Ease of use - No

Range of programmes - No

HD offering - No

Interactive - No

OK possibly the 'free' Setanta (not for long!) and maybe the replay function but that's pretty limited and Sky's series link record function pretty much means you will never miss anything that you don't want to.
(Record The Wire then watch them back to back to back to back.....superb!!)

Really beyond that I can't think of anything that makes Virgin the better choice over SKy.

Virgin also has TV choice on demand which is fantastic. The reason I went wit virgin at first was to avoid the sky dish on the house and would prob stick with virgin now.

Virgins broadband is also spot on.

I've had both and Sky wins hands down everytime..

No comparison!

Virgin's customer service IMO is rank..

Sky+ is the way forward especially if you have a iphone with the remote record app

TV Choice on demand is I admit Virgins selling point, personally I have found Sky + to be much more useful, also when I punted Virgin just a few months ago their HD offerings were limited to say the least and having experienced Sky's would not swap back to Virgin for anything.

Personally I have also found the Sky picture to be of better quality, the new EPG with two touch series record to be pretty darn handy and of course the HD sports just superb.

All about personal experience and requirements I suppose but mine lands me on the side of Sky every time.

I do use Virgin broadbad though and have nothing but good to say for it, shame about their TV offerings though  :greengrin

I don;t have a landline but use Virgin Broadband while having SKy TV so don't think it should be a problem...depends how much Virgin want to charge you for just having the two. When I moved TV provider though I called Virgin to tell them Sky wanted to give me their broadband service and Virgin cut their cost for 6 months by a third so whatever you do make sure you make a call or two to see what the best deal is.
