View Full Version : Chinese Govt and their disgusting measures

Revising for my modern studies exam tomorrow and I'm studying China and in particular what religious groups are banned. The Falun Gong are the most widespread of these and I checked Wiki. Having a read through I got to the bit about how they are treated. They are used for organ harvesting. How anyone can do that to anyone is inconcievable and the Govt know this is happening because they get new prisoners every day.

Falun Gong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falun_gong)

I went, apprehensively, on to read the rest. The findings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reports_of_organ_harvesting_from_live_Falun_Gong_p ractitioners_in_China) were done by Americans and I didn't manage to bring myself to read this whole page, but I read the transcripts from the calls (the orange boxes about half way down the page on the right hand side) and they are really disturbing, the fact that a doctor does this, and doesn't care that he's speaking about it is sick.

Possibly not the place to air my anger at it on a football site but know a few of you know about politics in other countries.

I've read very convincing things on the internet that claim that the CIA carried out 9/11 and the moon landings were faked.

Great, bolt back to wankback...

I thought this was the non football part of the board?

I don't deny that this religious group gets persecuted but I was questioning the veracity of the source (wikipedia)

But it seems that if I post about a non football related topic I get football based abuse back.

My point is that is an off topic part of the board. Disagree with me all you want and take the mick. But this part of the website is supposed to be non football.

Generally not football based but I do not think there is a law that states no football related matters may be discussed in any way shape or form

If you ain't happy you know where the door is.

The OP was making a valid discussion and you decided to take the pish out of him, what did you expect to happen?

Are you the judge and jury?

Nobody gave him any debate or discussion before I did. Did I take the pish out of him? Maybe, but more out of his sources I'd say.

I'll just leave you to it now, obvioulsy it is a Hibs only chat.

Listen, I now only post on this part of the board. Mainly because I like the cut and thrust of the posters here. People that I may or may not agree with. Guys like Doddie (we've had out differences) Filled Rolls, Hibsbollah, Falkirkhibee, Liverpool Hibs etc. And football doesn't come into it. Politics, religion, lifestyle etc does. And that's what this bit of the board does.

But if this does become LTYF etc then there is no point.

You, I or Christian Nade can edit wikipedia, so posting it as an authentic 'source' is a waste of time.

Well, maybe Nade couldnt manage it but Tazio still has a point:wink:

Yeah, away back to kickback, I read that it's done in my textbook too, unless they're teaching us ***** off the internet as well? Wiki's pretty good for resources, but the SQA are probably better granted.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the point OR the way it was made.

Tazio is right that Wiki cannot be used as an un-corroborated source of information and that people use it to disseminate false or unproven stories to support whatever their own agenda may be. The fact this point was made is especially important given that the OP came across the information as part of their revision for a Modern Studies exam.

Given the way Modern Studies (and other "social sciences" like History) are taught in schools and the way the exams are designed, Tazio's chosen method of making the point is not out of order either. Often source material will be provided in the form of satire (sarcastic or not) and understanding it and it's usage in relation to social commentary is massive when it comes to passing these kinds of exams.

Hey, Taz - getting yourself in trouble again I see.

You're right - Wikipedia is NOT a dependable source for anything.

The problem is, as you so rightly point out, that any and every conspiracy theory pointy-heid can go and spill his/her guts of all the accumulated garbage of his/her imagination, and post it all as fact. If someone were fabricating The Protocols of the Elders of Zion nowadays, they'd do so on Wikipedia - and some of us are aware of the mischief THAT particular piece of fiction has caused over the past hundred years or so.

(I seem to remember certain articles about one Amadou Konte, aka the Mali Magician, that would have had us believe that he was second only to Pele in football's Roll of Honour, possibly the greatest centre-forward ever to play for the esteemed Cabbage....)

And Milky - long before the Falun Gong were ever thought of, the Chinese Communists were persecuting Muslims, Bhuddists of all schools and Christians of all denominations. They still are. Look at the wider picture, mate.

Come on; if you think that the OP was offended by the comment, then I think you are being overly-sensitive (by proxy). Surely he is entitled to first-refusal on offence?

You asked him to leave as a result of this, which is unfair. I saw no reason to be rude (go back to wankback).

He was clearly making a comment regarding the source of the story, which we all know has absolutely no credibility - it may or may not be true.

I a hibs.netter had made the same comment, nothing would have been said.

OP was trying to chat about Chinese government. So here is my attempt to un-hijack the thread:

The Chinese get up to some nasty stuff, most major governments have some skeletons in their closets; some are positively barbarous.

This story is fairly grim, so therefore it is less likely than other less grim stories. Wikipedia could easily have been hijacked by pro Falun Gong people.

Check out the stuff on Nade; you will see that anything can be written by anyone. At the same time you will probably pish yersel!

As a yam would you then assume that all those supposedly GFA-inspired conspiracy decisions were incompetence rather than plotting?

I'm sure this part of the board is better for your presence Tazio, hopefully you won't be discouraged from posting :agree:

That was not me that said that ??????????????????

I never at any time suggested that the OP would be offended just thought it was funny cause Tazio took the huff when he got the nade taken out him when his intention had been to take the nade out the op. If he wanted to make a serious point he could have, he decided not to, got it back and spat the dummy out.

I understand that, just came across this particular story and it's relevance to my exam. The textbook gave ill-treating, torture and organ harvesting among the measures taken. I've read all the sources available to me on both the internet and in print and I can't see anything sunstantially wrong with the Falun Gong. As I said, it was just a story that caught my eye and i'm fully aware of what else they do.

That's a fair point, however I can't see the Falun Gong hijacking the SQA anytime soon...

Also, Nade's wiki page is very intriguing.

"Christian Nade has been portrayed as one of the best strikers in the world with pundits & fans alike comparing him to the Brazilian Ronaldo for his sheer pace and athletism and of course his prolific goal scoring, which can be seen in his goalscoring records and brilliant goal percentage for current club Hearts at a staggering 12.5%, which was beaten by Amadou Konte's record for former club Potenza of 18.75%. This angered FIFA and Vladimir Romanov who claimed conspiracy theories. It was found that Nade's prolific goalscoring came from his "5-a-day" pies. One steak, one maccaroni, one mince, one curry and one chicken and mushroom - the perfect combination."

Fair enough, mate. Your original thread seemed to have gone into a spasm of spontaneous hijacking....

The only thing the Falun Gong seem to have done wrong is not deify the esteemed leadership of the PRC, who, in spite of being officially dialectical materialist atheists, have a wonderful habit of erecting huge great statues of Chairman Mao.

If I didn't know better, I'd think they were worshipping HIM.

(Sorry, I think that's another hijack. Hope the exam goes well.)

Overseas Falun Gong organizations have documented over 2,000 deaths in custody of Falun Gong practitioners since the crackdown began. It has recently been alleged that a large number of deaths in custody may be the result of enforced ‘organ harvesting’ from Falun Gong detainees so that their organs can be used for transplants. Amnesty International is investigating these reports, but is currently unable to independently verify these allegations.

Deary me, Tazio got it a bit strong on this thread. Slightly out of order.

On topic, not that it excuses the systematic brutalisation they have received at the hands of the state in any way, but the Falun Gong are an absolutely terrible bunch of ****ers - not just a harmless, quasi-religious exercise group.

For reference/comparison see Aum Shinrikyo.

haha slightly!

The exam was on monday and went well thanks.

I know amnesty international said there that they were unable to verify it but that American thing did verify it and from what I've heard from my mods teacher (who runs an amnesty international thing related to the school) there's no question it's going on.
