Hi Folks, possibility has come up for a contract out in Munich.
Not too sure about this as exchange rates and cost of living.
Anyone got any advice on cost of living in Munich?
Cheers,
HB.

Seemed quite expensive when I was there a few weeks ago, my Austrian friends with me said its the most expensive city in Germany? Not sure if thats true though.
Absolutely beautiful city however and I would jump at the chance to live there, expensive or not.

According to this link Munich is 37th from 50 Cities worldwide, which make me wonder as Prague is ranked more expensive than Munich and it is cheap as biscuits over here.

Haymaker, you got to remember visiting for a weekend drinking and eating out all the time in peak tourist traps does not make the city expensive, every major city has a tourist area where the prices are hiked up, you should be looking at the prices in the supermarkets, fuel for cars, public transport, utilities not what a pint and a steak is!!

Munich is Germany's most expensive city. The biggest problem there is house prices. I've heard about people sleeping in broom closets for 6 months, while they've been waiting to find a decent flat.
Other than that it's a nice small city not unlike Edinburgh where you tend to bump into the same people all the time. Make sure you get out in September though, that's when the circus comes to town :greengrin

Thats true but im used to living in London which is expensive too. I really didnt notice it being overly expensive however my austrian friends who live there say it is the most expensive. And Prague is nice and cheap, even the tourist areas arent THAT bad.

I hear what your saying, But it depends on where in Austria and what he is comparing Munich to, as for Prague it can be expensive mate, 5quid a pint in the airport, 4quid a pint on the square, Irish/Brit bars same as George St.
But as I said above being a local is different from visiting a city for the weekend, I bet you know where to go in London city for a decent cheap night out and pint, that's the point I am trying to get across!!
