The neither/both option is confusing. How will you know which votes are for neither and which are for both?

Out of interest, I voted in there and I opt for neither :greengrin

Being half French - half Scottish it's Europe all the way. I also lived in the US for three years when I was growing up. The reason we moved away is because my parents didn't want me to turn into an American. My brother was born there and has an American passport as well, but if you asked him I'm pretty sure he'd say the same thing. It just doesn't seem like the right thing to affiliate yourself to. Kind of like being a Rangers/Celtic fan or cheering the house on when you go to the casino.

why? just intrested really

it is a hard question though, because europe consists of many cultures and it would be hard to say we are close to spanish, greek wtc because of the lifestyle they have here, but you could say we are closer to german, dutch, etc

but you have to take into account the american culture has came into a lot of societys like fast food, the programmes and films we watch but not forgetting some of american culture taken from the way europeans work.

im stuck, although my first instinct was american, but i dont know why :greengrin

The main reason I think was due to the over-riding culture of wastefull excess. The American psyche, by and large and this is according to my old man, is besett by an idea that the only way to be happy is to accumulate possessions - they call it the pursuit of happiness- which goes totally against the way I was brought up and totally against the way I have now come to view the world as an adult. Don't get me wrong, the Americans are probably some of the friendliest people in the world, especially small town America, but scratch the surface and the US has some of the biggest social problems and inequalities in the developed world. The majority also have never left the US, have no intention of doing so and whether it's as a result of this or not, have a very blinkered view of the world around them. No offence to anyone who chooses not to pass their time with travel.

Western European all the way. I like long lunches, afternoon naps, red wine and taking life at a leisurely place.
