What relevance does the fact that you have one guy on camera behaving like a lunatic have on the fact that there's a world cup there in 2010?

I think it's something to do with the place having one of the, if not the, highest crime rates it the world.

Then you have robberies, how many i don't know. But then there is going to be a good amount of tourists heading there way next year.
These people will have a field day when this tournament in under way.

There were 22100 murders in the US the year the world cup was being held. Would you have held the same fear of going to the US when the World Cup was on there? That would have been about 7% more dangerous.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the population of the USA is a tad more than South Africa?

You're right there. However you're still more likely to be a victim of crime in the US than in South Africa.

To be fair though, I think people in the US and NZ are probably about 100 times more likely to report a crime than a South African.

P.S I plucked that figure out of thin air.

This is the most telling link - South Africa clearly has a major problem with SERIOUS crime :agree:
