Interesting clip of Frank Lampard calling a radio DJ live on air to defend himself over a personal matter (in relation to Lampard) which was being discussed.

Not a big fan of Lampard but think he comes across very well and gives a -little insight into the goldfish bowl mentality of high-profile footballers who are now celebrities because of the money they earn and how they do it.

Goon on him for sticking up for himself. I think the media take far too many liberties with celebrities, and for a DJ to be judge and jury on what someone does is ridiculous.

Not a big fan of Lampard's, but I think a bit more of him for doing that.

FL comes across very well there. Footballers don't always come across as lucidly and, given that it was the anniversary of his mum's death, it must have been very difficult for him.

I heard an interview with the journalist on 5Live last night and, quite honestly, he came across as a cynical, some would say typical red-top, journalist who (as FL says) is only interested in whipping up a story. Glad to say that all the callers and texters to the prog (that I heard) were sticking up for FL.

He may well have been a ***** in his private life, he may have been blameless... we all like tittle tattle about the so-called great and good in society.... but, IMHO, it is none of our business.

Exactly, who are we to judge? It is nothing to do with us.

Not a fan of Lampard at all but fair play to him there for sticking up for his name and reputation.

Maybe Frank should spend a bit less time wallowing in self pity and a bit more time with the two innocent little children?

How much time does he spend with his children at the moment?

I don't see how you can make this judgement when you don't know all the facts.

I am not defendng FL here, but I can't make judgement on a situation when I have no idea of the actual facts. These sort of assumptions and negative attitudes are the currency of tabloid journalists.

Good on Lampard for tearing into that sanctimonious, arrogant turd. It's about time those people were held up to account for their actions. Calling somebody you don't know anything about '****' on public media is outrageous and fair play to FL for standing up for himself in a restrained and dignified manner.

Always liked him as a player, he's gone up in my estimation as a human being now.

Have you been PMd an answer to this yet? I see it's not been posted for all to read.

Not yet, though I'm sure it will be on it's way.

Probably just waiting on Frank getting back to them with the details.:agree:

Not enough clearly. I bet they'd prefer daddy spent his free time with them rather on the radio trying to justify his loathsome behaviour.

I heard they were with him while he phoned in the radio show.

Isn't it incredible how the Sun can warp people's minds?

They probably understand that, like most parents, he can't be with them 24/7 though. (dunno how old the innocent children are, granted, so they might not have formed an opinion either way).

In saying that, I know how mental my kids go if I have to ever make a three minute phone call. I'm still paying for the councelling now.
