Just wanted to start a thread to offer condolences to the families of the deceased of the chopper. I work in Oil and gas myself and have a few colleagues offshore, so it hit home pretty hard.

RIP to all.:boo hoo:

I agree very sad indeed.

Shocking IMO the lack of coverage nationally re this, much more important to be discussing who is sitting next to Obama.

RIP to all.

Spot on.

My uncle works on the rigs and is due to go back on friday, with this incident and the previous one a few months ago must be worrying for anyone that is a regular helicopter traveller.

Defo.

Sad news. Thought about this on the way to work this morning and thought about how risky it is for them just to get to the rigs and home.

I assume the risk factor is built into wages or is it purely based on their specialist skills?

I looked into the rigs before but it was mostly engineering roles.

RIP to all.

I'm on an apprenticeship to go offshore just now, and thats, what, the 3rd? in the space of a few months to go down. It's not the greatest thing to hear about your career for the next 50 years.

RIP to all

My Dad works offshore too, but I'm not too concerned. The amount of flights that go is huge, and it's only recently that we have seen any tragedy.

Devastating news though, RIP to all the deceased.

Sitting waiting for our chopper to pick us up ,to bring us home,
must admit to a feeling unease........and its foggy as ****...so we might have to wait a bit longer. Thoughts go out to all the bereaved. R.I.P.

Having spent a lot of years offshore, Scotland and other places, I obviously know the dangers involved. Everybody seems to forget about them until something like this or Piper Alpha or any of the other countless tragedies happen.

RIP all of you.

Probably wasn't too clear there, i've just started my apprenticeship at Jewel and Esk just now, don't go off til next semptember. The year above me are due to go off in a fortnight though, so it isn't too comforting for them, but as someone mentioned above, the amount of flights that happen a day, so I think everyone is just trying not to think about the whole situation.
