Has anyone else read Keane's book?

I've just finished it and thought it was okay. Some bits were a bit repetative but gave you a decent insight into his mentality and life. Was interested to read that he almost jacked it in after trying to smack Shearer (I really wish he caught him).

Also gave a good explanation on the whole 'these players aren't good enough for Man U' comments that were made and how he felt a lot of people were lazy and lost their hunger after the treble.

The version I have has the new chapter which includes the WC malarky and the consequences for him from the original book when he was brought over the coals for it. It has the Alfe Inge-Haaland (however the **** you spell it) section ommitted which I was dissappointed at (although he was forced to remove it or face further action from the FA).

Mick, you're a liar...you're a *****ing w*nker. I didn't rate you as a player, I don't rate you as a manager, and I don't rate you as a person. You're a *****ing w*nker and you can stick your World Cup up your arse. The only reason I have any dealings with you is that somehow you are the manager of my country! You can stick it up your bollocks.

I read it a while ago and he just came across as a nutter who wanted to fight at the slightest provocation.

You think? I thought it was more determination and will to win (football side) and not to be taken for a **** (outside football). I know many people who are both or one of the two.

He's not a people person when it comes to football and for that reason I don't think he will ever make a great manager. He hates it when people don't have the same determination as him to win and unforuntalely for him there are too many people like that in football.

Personally I would have liked to have read a bit more about his conversations and relationships with the other players although it didn't sound like he had that much of one with them outside the game (certainly the 99 team anyway).

I though the bit he mentioned about Cantona and the sweep stake they did was class.

Agree with that. Good read and far better than most fitba players autobiographies....I thought Stuart Pearce's was particularly crap.

It was a determination to win at any cost a bit like Sounass(sic)not the way a decent person should conduct themselves. His off field antics would've got us jailed.

There's a lot worse people in the world than Keane on a football pitch. Lauren who was at Arsenal was one of the most vicious pplayers I've ever seen on a pitch but no one cares because he was *****.

Keane has said a million times that if it wasn't for his personality he would never have made it to Man U without it. Gattuso is the same, neither of them would make it to that level without their personalities.

As for his off-field antics from what I know of him from the book and the tabloids and the trouble he's been in etc I also know a few people who have done a lot worse. The courts etc don't give a toss about assaults / breach of the peace nowadays and for that reason I would disagree that we would have been jailed for the same offences.
