Does anyone know of a website where you can type in phone numbers and it gives you the owner's name and address. I just got a new cellphone so I can check my british text messages and missed calls here in America. Some guy has sent me a bunch of texts in the last two days. All kinds of weird stuff like his grandmother dieing, him meeting up with me, and some trip to London. He may think I'm his grandfather. I'd like to figure out who is texting me without having to call them.

These reverse lookup website exists for American numbers but I couldn't find a UK one with a quick google search.

Could always try the old fashioned "Can i ask who you are?" technique
Or do you not wish to spent a fortune texting back?

P.s I don't know of any database, i'd be surprised if there was one as i'm sure it would break some privacy laws.

Upon further research, it turns out providing a reverse lookup service in the UK is illegal.

The emergency services have this. The address that the line is registered to automatically comes up on screen. I'm told it has cut down hugely on hoax calls.
