Just went to see this film. I loved the book and the film is very good. Great performances and some good lookalikes. Billy Bremner a bit too fat and Johnny Giles too tall, but apart from that some great stuff.
The Clough, Taylor and Revie leads were great.

For some very obscure reason, nowhere north of Falkirk appears to be showing this! The Cineworlds and Odeons in both Aberdeen and Dundee aren't showing it, nor is the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre.

Shame that Scott. I saw it in London, and it's annoying that the US owned multiplexes deem there should be no coverage in Scotland for this great British film, where Scots like Billy Bremner, Jimmy Gordon, John McGovern, John O'Hare, Eddie Gray, Peter Lorimer and Dave MacKay feature prominently in the story.
Instead we are expected to put up with 50 screens in between Glasgow and Edinburgh showing the latest Nicolas Cage sci-fi thriller, so they can hit us with a big enough ad campaign to try and entice enough misguided souls through the doors over the first weekend to watch this turkey before word of mouth consigns it to the grave.
The Damned, despite my Bremner and Giles reservations, integrates the football and filmed scenes really well, with some brilliant sets of the old seventies stadiums.

I'm half way through the book, I'm finding it dark and very negative I'm planning to watch the film too.

They have a more upbeat, funny ending in the film than in the book, but it kind of works.

More upbeat than this? Unpossible
In May 1979
Margaret Hilda Thatcher and the Conservative Party won
the General Election
and Brian Howard Clough and Nottingham Forest won
the European Cup -
No Milton. no Blake. No Orwell -

As far as I'm concerned this film has been made by clowns, and I they should throw all their medals and Baftas in the bin, because they've won the bloody lot by cheating.
Young man, I don't pay you good money to be playing Gordon McQueen, get back in front of the camera - that's your job.
