Another fine mess by the sounds of it.

As with Banks and other Building Societies, I just can't quite fathom out why nobody predicted the seriousness of the situation long before the *hit actually hit the fan.

Hopefully both jobs and savers will be protected.

I tell you what, I hope all the banks and building societies that are finding themselves in the brown stuff at the moment are sympathetic with the folk who can't afford their mortgage and loan repayments as a direct consequence of their incompetence.

As for the Dunfermline BS, as a Dunfermline resident, this is very sad news. I saw last week that they were hopeful of a government bail-out, I certainly hope for Fife's sake that the DBS isn't forced to close.

At least we have a Scottish PM and Chancellor who will do their upmost to protect a venerable Scottish institution as they did with Northern Rock, oops. Silly me.

Farcical, IMO a deliberate attempt to undermine the Scottish financial institutions and by default the case for Independence. Another reason for celebration at the next Scottish Labour party conference no doubt. :grr:

i think nationwide have bought most of it out
