A. Pedant writes....

They have won the 5/6 Nations, and Triple Crown, many times in that period. It's their first Grand Slam since 1948.

If by "smaller sides" you mean Wales and Ireland, I think you could find yourself in seriousl trouble comparing them to the Anglo-Antipodean Rejects XV.

Wales and Ireland can play Rugby.

The A-A Rejects can't.

How many antipodean rejects were playing for Scotland yesterday Doddie?

Anyway well done Ireland - this has been coming for a few years now.

Done a wee check, and admit that the number has dwindled dramatically.

Pity they still cannae play, though.

I agree with the last bit, anyway.

I don't know - I haven't watched them for a while. But it does seem a little odd that two of the backs are named "Evans".... :cool2:

How many home Scots were involved? Borderers? Scots born, living, playing in SCOTLAND?

Compared to home Welsh playing for Wales, or home Irish playing for Ireland?

Paterson; EDINBURGH
Danielli, ULSTER (used to play for the now defuncy BORDERS)
M Evans, GLASGOW
Morrison, GLASGOW
T Evans; GLASGOW
Godman, EDINBURGH
Blair; EDINBURGH
Dickinson, GLOUCESTER (formerly of EDINBURGH)
Ford, EDINBURGH
Murray, NORTHAMPTON (formerly of GLASGOW)
White, SALE SHARKS (formerly of GLASGOW)
Hamilton, EDINBURGH
Strokosch, EDINBURGH
Gray, NORTHAMPTON (used to play for the now defuncy BORDERS)
Taylor, Stade Francais (formerly of EDINBURGH)

Not too many to back up your argument in that side - except those with a Welsh sounding surname  In fact everyone of the XV is either with a Scottish Club just now or has played with one in the last few seasons.

If we're going to start not picking players because their surnames not McTavish we might struggle even more.

OK, OK - you've made your point, and besides, I admitted I was wrong already, even.

But it's still a pity they can't actually play....

I had already started my post before you corrected yourself.

They could play but they're being led by the wrong man IMO. Blair, Murray, Ford, Evans are all potential Lions (although their case hasn't been helped by playing in such a poor side).

Hadden's got to go.
