THEY are the same small children wearing the same smart outfits they donned for the Oscars just last Sunday. But just one week later, little Slumdog stars Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali are a world away from the Hollywood glitz—back in the filth of the shanty town they know as home.

This evening, instead of chatting with Angelina Jolie, they’ll be jumping over the open sewers that run through their streets to get water from the communal tap that serves hundreds of families in the slum Bandra suburb of Mumbai.

The 'obscenity' to the N.O.W seems to be that they are not hanging out with Angelina Jolie in Hollywood, rather than the fact that they, and millions of under children, live in ******ing slums. Perhaps they would prefer it if Angelina or Madonna adopted those children, so they could live in the manner to which they had presumably become accustomed?

Then they could do another feature on the brother and sisters they had presumably 'left behind' in the slums.

Alternatively, Boyle could have gotten a couple of spolied rich, child actors to play the part of slum kids, and the N.O.W could have produced a piece on how the real slum kids wern't given this opportunity.

A bitter and spiteful newspaper, which instead of trying to campaign against the obscene inequalities that tolerates children living in these conditions, chooses to create a 'human' story based on people's misfortunes.

I thought I read somewhere that the children that were used in this film and the money the film has made, Danny Boyle was putting money aside for these kids to give them a better life and to take care of there future's. And living conditions.

Looking for the link

The producers put money into a fund that is released to them when they are 18 on the condition that they go stay at school which the producers also got them a place at, this is in addition to their "handsome" payment as well.

As stated they were given houses aswell I believe.

Well done to the producers I say :agree:
