Why do these companies think it's ok to stall on giving money back. If, when I had the flat I hadn't paid my rent on time I would have heard all about it. Now I move out and they will do what ever they can to delay giving me my money back.
Moved out at the end of November leaving the flat absolutely spotless and they still have not returned my deposit claimimg they still have to pay the cleaning contractors for dusting the lampshades and couch. Seriously some dust on a lampshade, have you eber heard anything so ****ing ridiculous:grr:
Anybody else had problems with EPM:grr::grr:
Actually any letting agencies that should be avoided in future would be good aswell

When i was a student i had similar from a student accomodation company, they took ages to give the deposit back and when they eventually did they'd deducted some money off for some made up problem with the flat.
I also had a problem with a private landlord, he went mental when one of my flatmates didn't pay rent on time but then when it came to giving us our deposits back he stalled for months for no reason what so ever, we'd left the place spotless!

IIRC I read a couple of months back that the government is introducing / introduced a law that prevents the landlords from doing this and it stipulated that they had to pay it within a month of you leaving.
Do a quick Google on it and see if you can get some more info.

A good few years ago now, but I let a flat from EPM and they were dreadful. Took ages to get anything done, a bunch of cowboys if you ask me.
Unfortunately the position you find yourself in is not uncommon, a lot of letting agents/landlords will try and fleece you for all or part of your deposit. I've been involved in a few battles with landlords over the years, I'm just glad I don't rent any more.

when I moved flats 2 years ago, I told my landlord to keep my deposit as my last months rent payment and if he claimed he needed any work done to let me know and I'd pay for it after seeing what needed done, once it had been carried out and the bill. Needless to say there was nothing wrong with the flat.

I had a private landlord years ago who tried to keep my deposit because of fungus growing in a damp kitchen. Had to resort to the only language these crooks understand to get money back.

:agree: I did the same with the last flat I was in.

Don't get me started on letting agents....a shower of barstewards :agree:
They had the audacity to charge £140 for a cleaning bill....which was quite suprising giving that the flat was cleaned from top to bottom by myself and the person who I had moved in with....
We challenged them...but they pawned us off with some feeble excuse about the bill being non negotiable :grr::grr::grr:
