Hi folks
Myself and a fellow Hibee are going down to Manchester this weekend. We are staying the Friday and Saturday night and have tickets for the Man City game on the Saturday. We are aware that there seem to be a number of different areas of town to go to for nights out including Deansgate Locks and Peter Street. Does anyone know Manchester quite well? What are these areas like? Are they the better places to go in Manchester or do you have any alternative suggestions. Names of pubs/clubs etc to go to would be a help too. Im up for any type of place but want to try and avoid places which charge 5 quid a pint for obvious reasons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

There are plenty bars, some pricey, around Deansgate and also the above suggestion would not be a bad idea to finish your night as the pubs in Canal St are all open late and are pretty lively and strangely have plenty straight female talent, so as long as you're not homophobic I would try it.
Also if you are into Rock music there is a great club in Oxford Street called Jillys Rockworld.
Also give Rusholme's "curry mile" (which has the largest concentration of Asian restaurants in the UK) a try as the food in many of them is superb, just look for a busy one. If not into currys the there is always China Town which is more central.
I've always found the Mancs to be a friendly lot I'm sure you'll have a great weekend.

Go to the nightclub 5th Avenue (look it up online) for a quality indie night + cheap drinks :agree:
