An extremely sad day.

I loved John's music, it was so unique and he was incredibly talented. It'd around thirty years ago since I first saw him at Nottingham University and the memories of a great night and talking to him still remain.

I am very sad to hear this news.

May God rest and keep him.

RIP Rocking Johnny M. You were one of the greats.

Only relatively recently a Martyn convert despite me being around for a little while.
Tremendous talent and will be sorely missed. RIP John.

Aw man!

A unique and wonderful talent. So original and creative. What a sound he could conjure up, and brilliant live!

A total maverick though. And boy did he live hard!

Hat's off to John Martyn. RIP
