I'm not 100% happy with this - I don't feel Monty's days of playing in the Ryder Cup should be over - he's a cracking match-play asset and he'd have been more productive on the course IMO. Certainly better than the unproven dross that was called up and failed to turn up last year!

Still, if this is indeed the will of the European Committee then he has my full support. I think he'll prove a good choice of captain, but I just wish he was given the chance to play!

While it is a good appointment i think he would thrive in the role more in the states. He certainly would not stand for all that bull that the team put up with in the last ryder cup

His only chance to qualify these days is if he picked himself.

I was quite surprised Woosie wasn't in the frame more with it being in Wales and the way his last team spanked the yanks.:agree:

I know he was mentioned, but not as much as Monty or Olly.
