Reading today about his retiral from Test cricket. An undoubted great of the game, I saw him early in his career when he was setting the record for most centuries in a season for Queensland and although he lost his way for a couple of years he regained the form that provoked such excitement early on.
He was an outstanding and powerful opener and he and Langer must be one of the strongest opening pairs in the history of the game. Fine slips fielder too.
