It looks like this sorry mess will linger in for some day as the Czech PM in now involved and hoping to get it sorted. I didn't realize that hundreds of thousands of European homes have no heating after gas shipments via Ukraine were halted on Wednesday. Russian fears that Ukraine is siphoning off gas for its own use!! tut-tut :tsk tsk: my granny always said that it would come out in the waaaash.

Give Vlad an excuse not to switch on the undersoil heating over the next few weeks. Save a few pennies.

Yip, the Russians have a few courtiers by the short and curlys!!

Here in CZ it is not so bad as we have a secondary supply from Norway, but countries like Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania don't have any secondary agreements in place and I actually know a few people that had no heating in there homes for 4days, now that might not seem to bad, but with temps around minus 10 during the day in central and eastern Europe just now it is becoming very dangerous for some people, as well as the factories that have had to close as there is not gas supply to run there industrial machines, but this is not a new thing in fact every new year Russia and Ukraine fall out over gas and the supply is disrupted in some capacity!!
