I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing fellow Hibby Fish all the best. Here's to a full recovery Big Man.

I really hope we haven't seen the last of this great artist on stage, where he is second to none.

My favourite band/singer of all time.

Your music will be sadly missed big man but your health is what matters.

Pity the Scotsman are making a mountian out of a mole hill though and not quoting his full email, they really need to talk to the man rather than just sensationalise a non-story.

From the mail in question:

I am taking at least 6 months off from singing. I'd like to think that I can play some festivals in the summer of 2009 but there will be no arranged tours until 2010.
I don't plan to even contemplate a new album until the end of next year.

Not exactly hanging up the mike :cool2:

And yes I hope that the scare is just that and not more serious, went to the Newcastle and South Shields shows on this tour and there was a definite difference in his range on the latter.

His range has been off for a few years now. Remember he had to have a backing singer for the Return to Childhood tour.

I was going to post a link to the e-mail rather than the SoS but thought it would be too long and detailed for those that aren't huge fans. TBH I think Fish is being typically upbeat in his e-mail. He's obviously had a very worrying time and the last tour sems to have taken it's toll big time. I very much doubt we'll see him touring as heavily ever again. I just hope we've not seen the last of him live and that eventually, he be able to record again. The guy's a genius IMHO.

By the way, awaiting biopsy results is by no means a 'non-story'.

Fish has used backing singers on quite a lot of his tours since about the Suits tour, IIRC, Sam Brown and Liza Antiwi being the 2 that come straight to mind.

I'm not dismissing the "awaiting" results part but my reading of his email was that the consultant doubted it was malignant and I'm fairly confident from my experience that if the docs wrong he'd have known in less than 36 hours.
