Can anyone tell me a decent Scottish boozer in Newcastle?

Have been down 5 times but normally go around different pubs and might be going for new year. I went before for new year and there wasn't much new year atmosphere so it wasn't that great.

And before you say why not just stay in Edinburgh I'd rather go somewhere but still have a laugh wi people who enjoy a new years eve piss up!

Waterline on the Quayside, not a 'Scottish' pub as such but the manager is Scottish has great food and a pool table.

Used it as base camp for my stag do and they were very welcoming.

Ive lived here for 14 years and im not familiar with any Scottish themed pubs, which is a good thing IMHO, they'd just make them cheezy like the ubiquitous themed Irish bars:grr:The Waterline is a good pub away from the more hectic part of the quayside-good place to get a seat on a saturday.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a themed boozer, just full of Scots who have more of a liking for new years eve.

The last time I was down all there was to celebrate was a 10 second countdown in Bahas. It was sht and I swore I wouldn't go away from Ed but my mates want to go so I'm outnumbered!

It's just not a big thing down there mate, lived there for 6 years and it's basically just another night to be honest.

I 've always knew that but with new years eve being on the Wed this year I think it's going to be worse than last time (new years eve was on the Sat that time). My mates won't listed and think it'll be good anyway.

I normally book it so might just tell them that I couldn't get a hotel or the cheapest hotel is £70 a night or something and that'll put them off as we'll need a couple of nights :faf:

Tell them to take from somebody whose daughter has spent the last 3 years (and has lived here for over 10 years) out down the Quayside on New Years Eve, it is worse than a normal weekend night. You are possibly too late to get into the better bars/clubs as most of them will be ticketed to prevent tourists annoying the locals plus Northumbria police have a serious zero tolerance policy to drunks and will arrest without much discussion.
