Absolutely tragic. Heard of a similar case in Glasgow last year. RIP

If it's the same one as I'm thinking of - in Glasgow - it was a good friend of a friend that died. I vaguely knew of him through a couple of social evenings, but my friend and all her friends were devestated.
As you say, what a tragedy, especially this close to Xmas (not that it wouldn't be a absolute tragedy at any time of year!!)

Sounds likely, was a strathy student I think. My mates flatmate, Jo, had just started going out with him after years of waiting and she was distraught.

the boy was a U.S exchange student.
