I disagree, both throws were heading straight for his coupon but he ducked pretty well, unfortunately:devil:

The second one was close but you are correct, nothing better than 100% accuracy would have done there:wink::greengrin

How slow where the security guards coming out that back door, if that guy had a gun it would have been curtains for old Dubya.

Pity no one had that plan about 8 years ago. Might have saved a whole load of trouble.

I accept that there is quite a bit of justification for people, especially Iraqis, to dislike George Bush and I would fully defend the right of anyone to make a peaceful protest (not the assault that was carried out the other day).

However it is still quite ironic that this man is protesting against Bush's actions in going to war in Iraq. But had the war not taken place and Saddam Hussein had still been in power in Iraq, then even a peaceful demonstration against the Baath Party (far less an aggressive protest like throwing shoes at Saddam's head) would have resulted in the immediate execution of the person responsible.

I'm not saying that the war was handled well or even that the war should have been started in the first place. But it cannot be denied that because of George Bush's decision to topple Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi people, like this journalist, are now able to protest freely. Which wasn't something they were able to do under the previous regime.

I'm torn. There is a very big part of me that just wants to turn the other cheek and laugh at this incident because it was quite funny.

BUT.

It doesn't matter what I think of Bush (and believe me, I don't have a high opinion of the guy) he's still the leader of the country I am proud to be a citizen of and as such outbursts like this cannot be tolerated. I know it sounds like I'm being uptight but if the President in question had been more popular then I think more people would have found this less humourous.

Even though it was just a shoe. ;)

This is what i think too.

However, If this was barack obama there would have been a worldwide drive for a change in policy regarding international security involving leaders of the free world.

Anyway, bush's reactions were sportsmanlike to say the least...nice dodge!!

I wouldn't like someone in charge of my country who couldn't dodge a slipper!
