View Full Version : Edinburgh Beer Festival
The one that’s normally on at the Assembly Rooms in George Street.
I never saw anything about it this year, did I miss it?
Or did it miss Edinburgh? If so will it be on again next year?

It's mad stuff. That's what you get for drinking a brew made in Alva though :greengrin
Try Harviestoun's other two beers if you get a chance - Bitter & Twisted and Schiehallion - they're both excellent

don't think mikey was drinking that but he still managed to get into a similar nick :greengrin
they are actually among my common purchases, i do prefer schiehallion if having a fair session but if its the odd snifter then bitter and twisted is a good one. :agree:

indeed, although i'll avoid being silly and nex time use the descriptions in the guide rather than the numbers in the alcohol by volume column when deciding what to drink :greengrin

Funnily enough, it crossed my mind too :greengrin
We're away on holiday on June 13th so hopefully it'll be the week before. Otherwise I'll have to go on the Thursday night!
Did you ever go to the old Caley Brewery festivals? They used to be good until they got all commercialised and they started selling Bacardi Breezers and wine for ra burdz :grr:

I did. Me and my mates were a regular rent a mob for all these things around Edinburgh.
Remember the ones down at Meadowbank. I think I liked it best down there.

I was just about to ask what happened to the one down Meadowbank. Lots of fun. Ahhhh, the good old days. I do love a good old beer festival. We took my parents to Oktoberfest in Vermont and that was pretty disappointing. 4 different beers on tap and none of them German or even remotely exotic.
Now I'm thirsty!!

It moved up to the Assembly Rooms in George Street I think after a break of a couple of homeless years. I'm not 100% sure.
The Oktoberfest in Germany would be a superb .net tour. Shame its during the season. Maybe they would change the date for us?
Or even better it coincides with one of our Euro games next season!

If any of you proper beer entusiasts are ever looking for something a little closer to home than Oktoberfest - there's a massive Beer Festival down in Peterborough in August every year, which isn't quite as pish as it sounds! Not sure why CAMRA chose Peterborough (central location?) but it's the biggest one in the UK outside of London and is some size. Check the pictures...
