No, that's not a passage from the bible, 1.14 is the current exchange rate for a pound sterling to a Euro.

Unbelievable. I'm sure I was getting €1.47 not too long ago.

The dollar is worth a lot more too. A year ago, you could have got over $2 for a pound - now you'll only get £1.44.

What's Weston-super-Mare like in August?

I think the dollar price will rise back up again as our economy will take a lot less to rectify than the States. Particularly when you consider their automobile industry is on the brink of collapse.

One thing's for sure though - there won't be the same number of people going to New York for their Christmas shopping at the moment!

Very scary times, I thought it was bad enough going on holiday this year and getting a rate of 1.21. If I go away next summer may well look for an all-inclusive deal. Bad times :brickwall

We're booked for the US next summer and we've to pay the balance on the accomodation in January.

We booked in September and I reckon it'll be about £1000 extra because of the exchange rate.

I agree that it'll sort itself out though as our economy is likely to bounce back better. 2% interest rates aint helping the pound though!

The pound is a nightmare.

I'm financing my own holiday to Greece this year, to stay with relatives. We normally split the bill but I'm going to be paying twice as much as them because of the exchange rate: they earn euros straight, it's a shocker.
