I'm just testing the water.
My mate, (Attic monkey - not a frequent poster), and I are keen to get away next year for a golf week and I thought there might be a few folk on hibs.net who would be interested in joining us.
I'd rather avoid the height of the summer and, until yesterday, I didn't want to miss a home game, so I've been looking at the weeks in which Scotland are playing.
The first week available is 28 March (Scotland v Holland then away to Dundee United the following Saturday) or the double header in early September.
I've been looking at Turkey and the Algarve but am open to suggestions.
It won't be a cheap venture but it will be good.
Any interest out there?

I work down at 3D Golf, so if you need any advice on venues just let me know. Turkey is really good and at that time of the year there are daytime flights on a Wednesday from Glasgow. Courses are really good and hotels are great. The only thing it lacks is nightlife, the hotels therefore on an all inclusive basis.
if you need any info just give me a shout

Interested but cash is a problem for the mo. Maybe start with that outing mentioned a few months ago?

It unfortunately falls at my busiest time at Uni (both dates) as in March, we're winding up to exams, and in September/October, i'll be starting my PhD.
Still interested in taking part in a domestic outing if you have one though :agree:

Yes, there doesn't seem to be much interest for a foreign trip.
I'll try to get something arranged locally, maybe in the spring.

If I remember there was quite a bit of interest on an outing so we should maybe start that way Dave. I'm more than happy to help organise. If we start organising in the new year then we could probably start up about April/May.
I quite fancy a trip abroad - done it once before to Dublin - but my finances are stretched so outings would be better for me.

Good stuff.
We'll make it happen.

I'd be up for an outing or a cheap overseas jaunt. Even Wales would be a good shout for a weekend away and not that expensive.
I don't want to hijack the thread but what about arranging a couple of teams to play in the macmillan cancer longest day golf challenge?
Sponsored 4 rounds in one day with all proceeds going to Macmillan cancer care who have been excellent support for me and my family in the last 6 months.

Don't think many will agree after 4 rounds. Damn, my smilies have gone again.

Done it last year and it was a great experience (I believe you actually sponsored me )
Would definately be up for entering again, only with less pressure in terms of organising next time! I had to arrange all courses, meals, uniforms, transport and final money submission myself last year!

If you don't mind though Scott, I'll maybe get you to help organise it seing as you've been there and done it before. Only if that's ok though.
As I said, I didn't want to hijack this thread which looks like has or is going to happen soon so I'll post another thread for anyone that's interested. Just thought that we could have used that for our golf outing day that's been "in planning" for a few months now.
I'm quite happy to take on most of the work but wouldn't mind a bit of support from an old hand at this if it's cool with you.

I don't mind helping in the slightest - what I meant by that was, I'd be happy to do it again so long as all the organising isn't lumped onto me. More than happy to assist in the preparations!
If you create another thread, we could discuss it more in detail there though and save the hijack

Recommend all the golfers on here take a look at that.
Back on topic can anyone who is interested in taking part in outings next year add their name to this thread.
Once we have enough we can start canvassing your ideas for which courses you would like to play.
HR would you like to edit your OP to show the lists of guys & girls interested?

Ach, go ahead and put my name down - be it home or abroad - need to take a break at some point.
If there's enough, numbers wise, perhaps you could make it into a "society" and there can be an outing a month?
My dad's a member of the Northern Merchants Golf Society and they go all over Scotland one Wednesday each month. As they do it as a society, they get discounts from the courses they play as well!
Just a wee thought, be it helpful or not.
I'd like to second the suggestion to check out the stickied thread on the Other Sports forum - we could be doing with additional interest and ideas. It has potential at the moment, but id love to have all golfers on .net coming together to make a series of teams - we all know there are enough of you out there!
Cheers folks.

Anything further happening with this?
I'm assuming that March is out of the window, being that it's less than 3 weeks away...

Was talking to Radge the other day about this - I've got quite a busy month on anyone else up for organising something.
Suppose I better start practising again :greengrin
