I don't think we should be blinded by national pride on this one. Sandy has been divorced from the main tour for far too long now and may well be out of touch with today's players.

He also let himself down badly when he "tore up" in the first round of the Open - hardly a thing you would expect from a prospective Ryder Cup captain. Sandy has also given the impression he's always been a very laid back character and I would cast doubt on his motivational abilities.


My vote would go to Woosie - A Welsh Captain when the match is played in Wales makes a lot of common sense.
