was in varadero 2 years ago, pretty cool place and havana is an amazing city

Stayed in the Playa Pesquero a couple of years ago, fabulous Hotel, the best food I've ever had on holiday also the best Mojito's :thumbsup:

I went in February last year, and did a lot of touring about. Probably my best holiday ever. Lots of sun, music, culture, rum and the friendliest of people.

Go now before the US gets hold of it....

Varaderro's pretty much the same as Sharm el Sheikh in as much as it's a town manufactured for tourism ; however outwith the tourist resorts, Cuba's got far more going for it - imho.

Havana's one of the coolest cities I've ever visited - Mrs Plode got robbed in the town - still didn't put us off :wink:

I'd recommend it. Been three times in the last ten years, Havana on every occassion but once to Santiago De Cuba.

Agree with Alex's comments about Havana - better there than the resort towns. If you leave the beaten track of the Old Town, head up Neptuno Blvd, but only if you have a local guide because as in most countries in the region, stray tourists are fame game.
