My wee pal has a contract with these mugs.
Has a Direct Debit set up, and this month instead of taking £50, they have taken £550 !! !!
They are now saying it will take 7-10 days to repay the cash, leaving someone skintos until this money gets paid back.
The poor lass is in tears.
How would a customer fight back ?
Any advice ?

Tell her to contact her bank and do a Direct Debit Indemnity. They will refund the money staight away (legal obligation) until they get the money back from Voda.:agree:

I would also get her to tell Voda that she wants compensation or she will cancel her contract.

As Houchy said, tell her to head to one of her bank branches and ask for an Indemnity claim.
I had a direct debit taken out my account ramdomly and wrongly. Went in and they refunded the whole lot there and then

As stated get on the phone to get the indemnity claim, also tell vodafone her mortgage bounced, car insurance, car payment, council tax, charity contribution and savings standing order all bounced. Go mental at them threatening to go to watchdog or something and try for £35 compensation for each

Definitely fight for some compensation. That's outrageous!

Vodafone are useless. I have a contract with them that includes 1000 free texts a month but for last 4 months they keep charging me for all my texts. They keep claiming they have fixed it but wouldnt bet on it. Can't wait for my contract to end.
