1. Have there ever been better actors?

2. Who is your favourite between the two?

3. Leonardo DiCaprio is a terrific actor. He was fantastic in 1993 in Gilbert Grape and, apart from a couple of faux pas, including Titanic, he continues to convince. Do you think he can reach the same heights as De Niro and Pacino?

My answers;

1. Nope. Nicolson is great but he's always Jack Nicolson. These guys are much more versatile.

2. No question. De Niro.

3. Every chance if he gets the right film, the right character and the right director. I used to hate him so this is praise indeed.

2. I'd have to say Di Nero

3. Leonardo Di Caprio is fast becoming one of the best imo.

1. Johnny Depp - Love watching anything with him in it. Donnie Brasco and Fear and Loathing being 2 favourites.
2. De Niro, without a doubt.
2. Not really a fan of him. Not watched many of his films so can't really comment on his acting abilities.

1.) no, these guys are the best bar none:thumbsup: how good was heat btw!

2.) i would have to go for De Niro

3.) don't really rate DiCaprio, would put one or two others in front of him to go on and be greats. guys like Johnny Depp, Kevin Spacey and Edward Norton perhaps. Russel Crowe would maybe also be mentioned in the list too.

watch righteous kill with pacino and de niro. fantastic film:thumbsup:

Invredibly, this is really the first film in which the 2 actors team up onscreen.

They appeared in 2 scenes together in Heat and although both had roles in Godfather II, they were not in any joint scenes.

For that reason alone, Righteous Kill is a must see. :agree:

1. The two best actors of their generation maybe but hard to say the best ever as styles change over the years.

2. Pacino is my favourite although De Niro out acted him in Heat.

3. Possibly. Didn't like him that much until I saw The Departed in which he was terrific.

To my eyes Pacino nowadays on screen is like watching him doing an impression of himself.

De Niro without doubt for me.

I remember a few years ago being out for a few bevvies with 2 mates one night when we got on to the very subject of De Niro V Pacino. I obviously go for De Niro along with one of the other guys whilst the other goes for Pacino. Well, we all starts quoting films and different lines which initially was really funny and then after a while it takes a serious turn and the 2 mates are almost coming to blows. I'm peeing myself laughing when all of a sudden one of them storms out the pub and away home:faf: Now when we bump into each other it is still something that is stupidly funny:greengrin

Go on the Bob.

My favourite actors are Christopher Walken and Forest Whittaker.. These two waps get far too much credit, and as said before have become parodies of themselves.. Did you see Walken in True Romance ? ? Stuff of legend..

I could see Edward Norton hitting the heights of DeNiro and Pacino, though De Caprio is good too.
I actually think Brad Pitt is very under-rated and he probably gets overlooked because he's a 'pretty boy'. Seven and Fight Club are cracking films, and he's excellent in both.

Heat is brilliant - great soundtrack on it too.

DeNiro pips Pacino for me, but only just.

1. Possibly not. A few have perhaps equalled them though.

2. I enjoy watching Al Pacino more but it's pretty close.

3. I don't feel that DiCaprio will ever nearly have the presence of those two. There's no shame in that though.

quote: Hibbyradge re Pacino and De Niro

1. Have there ever been better actors?

Both VERY good. Didn't like De Niro in "Cape Fear" - the original with Bob Mitchum is a much better film IMO, and Bob Mitchum is infinitely more menacing than De Niro. But then re-makes never quite do it for me.

2. Who is your favourite between the two?

I wouldn't distinguish between them, although I have to say that in "Godfather I & II", "Scarface", "Donnie Brascoe", and "Carlito's Way" Pacino is about as good as anyone gets.

But then De Niro also has a phenomenal filmography, and is arguably more versatile. "Godfather II"? "Wag the Dog"? "Goodfellas"? "The Good Shepherd"? "Ronin"? And in "Raging Bull" he's just awesome.

Probably I'm shading it towards De Niro. Just.

3. Leonardo DiCaprio is a terrific actor. He was fantastic in 1993 in Gilbert Grape and, apart from a couple of faux pas, including Titanic, he continues to convince. Do you think he can reach the same heights as De Niro and Pacino?

Honestly? Not on what I've seen of him right now.

1. They're two of the very best without a doubt.

2. Pacino for me

3. DiCaprio is making a name for himself now as a top class actor, Departed & Gangs of New York are on a different level to his earlier work in Titanic etc.

1. Have there ever been better actors?
Yes. Brando was better than both IMO. So was Bogart.

2. Who is your favourite between the two?
I think De Niro has the all-time better performances under his belt. Saying that, Pacino has made better films and given more enjoyable performances over the last ten years or so (and neither has reached the heights they did as younger men)

Like a few other posters, he's grown on me. He needs to raise his game a bit though - De Niro and Pacino had delivered better performances in better films by this stage in their careers.
