just wondering if other netters were brought up in any of the church organisations, boys brigade, scouts/cubs, brownies/guides and if you think that it made you a better person than if you didnt, i for one was a bb and think that it made me respect others and their different points of view thoughts??

Brownies and the Girl Guides at St Davids Church, Broomhouse - loved it and it made me more thoughtful, courteous and considerate of others

5th edinburgh Girls brigade - no option so put Brownies. It didn't make me a better person but kept me off the streets once a week and made my granny proud. I was there from age 7-16. Have never sent any of my kids to BB's or cubs.

I never went to one, and I'm a latter-day Marquis de Sade. Draw your own conclusions...

Who ironically enough was a Cub himself until he was expelled during the demonstration stage while going for his 'Hobbies' badge :agree:

I was in the Scouts and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Three years in the Edinburgh Gang Show too – I can hold my ging-gang-goolies up with pride :greengrin

Was in the cubs :greengrin Left for my drama club which clashed with the cubs bad move :boo hoo: But .... I don't think it had any effect on my outlook to life or the way I live my life. Was just a group for kids of the same age to have fun :agree:

I went to Beavers, Cubs and then Scouts. Don't remember much about my experiences* now, but relieved the boredom of living in a very small town once a week. Most of my friends went and we usually just played indoor football, pool or rounders. Don't remember us doing much in the way of collecting badges.

*I do remember a group of us being told by the older kids that the Boys Brigade was for gay boys - a tag that stuck with them for most of their childhood! :greengrin

Went through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and only recently quit explorers because of school commitments.

Would definately recommend it to anyone with young kids. Not only does it teach them respect, but also valuable skills such as first aid etc.

150th Haymarket Scouts on top :cool2:

Went to boys brigade. Loved it all, taught you so much outside school in a fun environment. We learned things like first aid/how to wire a socket etc

Games was always a reward for our work at the start of the night and the sooner we got it done the quicker we got games. A great way to teach kids that you have to work for your free time and earn it

I was in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. All the way up to Senior Patrol Leader. Almost joined the Venture Scouts, but couldn't be bothered...
