The US "winning hearts and minds" in Afghanistan. They reported seven civilians were killed in an operation, when in reality 92 were slaughtered.http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article20705.htm :boo hoo:

With the US presidential election looming, we can expect more of those underhand shenanigans.

Out of control terrorist state in my view.

There just seems to be no end to this. Bush blazed into Afghanistan after 9/11 to start a War on Terror - well what has he and his Warmongers such as Cheyney and Rumsfeld achieved.
Captured Bin Laden - not quite
Neutralised the threat of Al Queda - taking a bit longer than expected
Overthrow those Al Queda sympathisers, the Taliban - no sooner do they "defeat" them in a part of the country and move on, do they return.
They also managed to back the Northern Alliance funding them with huge amounts of money, which the said Alliance use, amongst other things, to better farm and distribute the poppy crop to harvest for use as Heroin.
Keep up the good work Dode.:idiot:

Since the first Gulf war millions have died either directly by bombs and bullets or indirectly through starvation or a lack of mediacl supplies etc. By the time this whole thing is over they will have killed more civilians than the nazis, but as always the winners get to write the history books.

The figures on child deaths alone make horrific reading. Source UNICEF

The Nazi's were ultimately responsible for about 50 million deaths.

Iraqi civilian casualties are likely to lie somewhere between 350,000 and 900,000 (note this is for all violent deaths - not necessarily those caused directly by the coalition). (the lancet)

Child mortality rates due to sanctions were estimated at 227,000 up til 1998 when the oil for food programme began. (Source http://www.casi.org.uk/info/garfield/dr-garfield.html)

There don't seem to be any readily available reliable figures for the Afghan conflict but due to the nature of the conflict and the problems already present in Afghanistan pre-war these are likely to be orders of magnitude lower.

These figures are horrific but comparisons with the Nazi's devalues both conflicts.

You guys are TOTALLY OUT OF ORDER. :bitchy:

It says quite clearly in the report that the US Army had an independent Fox News journalist with them to verify their account of the incident.

If Colonel Oliver North says no one got hurt, I think that should be good enough for all of us. :agree:

Ollie's an officer and a gentleman, and has never told a lie in his life.

Quote: "The US military said that its findings were corroborated by an independent journalist embedded with the US force. He was named as the Fox News correspondent Oliver North, who came to prominence in the 1980s Iran-Contra affair, when he was an army colonel."

What more can you ask for? :cool2:

You're surely not suggesting that Ollie would perjure himself for his country, are you?

Or should that be "for his political masters"? :cool2:

He stood up and lied through his teeth to a Congressional committee - what more natural than to make use of his most obvious skill as a journalist? Apparently he has a regular program on Fox News, "War Stories With Oliver North" ("stories" being the appropriate and operative word, I think).

However, we have no right to point the finger at the Yanquis.

Our own TV and radio news is obviously being heavily censored to keep us from knowing about atrocities like this one.

Which begs the question - how many civilians have OUR forces killed in operations in Afghanistan during the past two years?

Now you come to mention that Doddie, seems like John Pilger agrees! :agree:
