i'm watching the Murray game but i'm not 100% sure i understand the scoring, how many breaks make up a set etc and how many sets need to be won?

sorry if this question is a bit thick

Best of 5 sets, first to win 6 games wins a set (but it must be by 2 clear games ie if a set is at 5-5 a player has to take it to 7-5 to win the set, if gets to 6-6 it goes a tiebreak game to decide the winner)

4 points to win a game (15, 30, 40, game) again the game must be won by two clear points which is why is goes to duece if it reaches 40-40

Best of 5 sets.

First to 6 games wins a set if clear by 2.

Get to 6-6 in any of the first 4 sets and it's a tie break.

2 sets apeice then the 5th set keeps going until there's a winner by 2 clear games.

I think :dunno:

Murray 2 2 15
Fed 6 3 15

Feder has won the first set 6 games to 3

the second set is currently 3 games to 2 for federer

current game is tied as 15-15 (1 point each)

feder needs to win another 3 games to get the second set, murray needs to win another 4

Cricket in a nutshell...

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

I think :dunno:

Definitely at Wimbledon, French and Aussie Opens but definitely NOT at the US, that goes to a final set tie break all because of American TV schedules, it was also one of the reasons that Murry/Nadal was rained off :brickwall

The word tennis comes from the French "tenez", roughly meaning "take that" which they shouted when serving. The word "love" was originally the French l'oeuf - the egg - which has the shape of a zero. Deuxe comes from the French deux (for 2), signifying that 2 more points are required to win. :nerd:

Bluff.

Take That were formed around 1990. Tennis had been going for at least fifteen years before that.
