As there's a few disciples of Hicks on here, there's news that there are plans to do a film of Hicks soon. Russell Crowe would be playing Hicks, with close friends of Hicks involved in the project.

Not sure if Crowe would personally get my vote to play him but with Hicks' mates involved in it's production, would be quite happy with their judgement.

For the un educated who is he:dunno:

a US comedian who sadly died at the age of (32??) from pancreatic cancer in the early 1990s. An intelligent comedian who said what he thought and more often than not hit the spot with what he said. very funny man

A man not fae bloody Alva for a start! Though I would say that, being from a rival town

Hicks was a stand-up comedian, though more a social commentator. True and honest, the only ones that count and of that, there's been very few. He died aged 32 of pancreatic cancer in 1994 but there's plenty material around online if one wishes to delve into his stuff. Well recommended.

I do NOT think that Russell Crowe should play Bill Hicks that would be a travesty!

Agreed, can't think who should, no one really springs to mind.

If this film is done well it could be a classic, i've read many Hicks biographies and he was a very intelligent and funny man. His social observation and commentary was second to none.

Thought Joachin Phoenix was magnificent as Jonny Cash, he could do justice to Bill Hicks IMO.

I'd go for Paul Giamatti.

In this instance I think it would be better to get an unknown in for the role , it worked in control for the ian curtis part.
