Aye I know what you mean, I was in Ibiza in June and you can't beat a bit of sun. Finances can only stretch to one holiday though.

Never been to Turkey though there's been a few to many horror stories for me terrorist attacks/dodgy locals etc.

I love Turkey - been there twice already and returning again in october. Seriously thinking about moving there some day. It's a beautiful country and the people are the nicest, most friendly you could hope to meet. Marmaris, however, is Turkey's answer to Blackpool - avoid at all costs.

A friend of mines parents moved out (Altinkum i think) council tax is £25 a year. Agree about Marmaris , my personal fav is Side .
Been to Turkey 8 times and not one bad experience to report

reason i picked marmaris was because it was my first time to turkey and was told thats a good place to get you started, as it is like the greek isles etc which it was. loved its bars and clubs also. my friend who im going with this time is going to turkey for the first time and marmaris is where she picked which im happy with.. maybe next year i will try somewhere else in turkey!

Can't wait :thumbsup:Been to Turkey three times, superb place.. just back from Gumbet ...

Icmeler - First time in Turkey & didnt know what to expect ..however Icmeler was outstanding....more laid back & chilled than we had expected...

Marmaris - As someone alluded to previously "Its like Blackpool" then they aint far off ..very lively town centre, plenty nightlife if thats what you are after but a wee bit hustle bustle for us ...harbour is superb at night when lit up....

Gumbet - Just back, a lively smallish resort with the very lively aptly named "Bar Street"....we stayed in the hotel Baba which fronted Bar st ..our room was however situated at the beach side which was handy if you wanted to avoid the plagues of rose sellers on bar st ...

All hotels along the promenade have their own stretch of beach ..the water is non tidal which means you can sit on the beach supping drinks with waiter service till 05.00 in the morn without getting drookit ...

Hope to go back to Turkey next year ..more likely Icmeler again...

The guy that used to be a partner in the Champagne bar (Yurda) was married to a lassie from Leith , not sure if he's still there though .
He took great delight in wearing his Hibs shirt though i'm going back a few years .
For anyone not wanting clubs etc too much i'd recommend Side , a lovely historic part of Turkey and the cheapest resort we've visited

I've done Pamukkale (sp) which was ok,long trip on the bus to get to though. Turkish bath and oil massage which are great and various boat trips. Never been to the mud baths in all the years i've been going to Turkey, keep saying i'm going to though.

Wembley don't think the weather is too good in November and a lot of the resorts close for winter. Think down Antalya area is an all round resort though.

Is that the place that has the spring water pool? and the other part is white? I'm sure we went there last year, Halfway there they took us into a bloody carpet making factory, I was bored out my skull

You've got to watch out for that - always check that the trips don't involve the carpet factory detour (unless you really want a carpet, obviously! :greengrin) You'll find that some places do do the trips without the carpet factory, but they won't tell you unless you ask.
