So, only 4 years to go :greengrin

Will it be on budget? Are there any events in Scotland?

How many potential life saving drugs will be sidelined to pay for it all?

I'm really excited about it.

The best athletes in the world only 5 hours away. Some of them will be doing their stuff and training even closer. Brilliant. Bring it on.

I'll definitely go, if I can get tickets.

I can't think why any sports fan in this country would feel differently.

But I'm probably about to find out.

Sadly you probably are - something to do with

"It'll only benefit London"

or

"What a waste of money"

or

"They're all drug-addled corrupt cheats anyway so what's the point" etc etc

I personally cannot wait.

Yep, I fully intend on trying to get tickets to go and see as much of it as I can. I've been to quite a few empty Olympic stadiums all over the world and it would be great to be in a full one when the games are on for once.

Some of the football is going to be in Glasgow, and given that a lot of the facilities for Glasgow 2014 will be in place by then, there's probably a good chance a few teams will set up their training camps somewhere up here.

It'll be a completely different spectacle from Beijing, but it should be cracking nevertheless :agree:

How can anyone seriously consider enjoying this event when we still have troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, NI and not to mention the likelihood of citizens from abroad being wrongly imprisioned by the boys in blue for smoking in one way streets.............blah.............blah......... ........blah :grr:

Bring it on, should be a sporting feast right on our door step. :agree:

The security situation for visitors is rather worrying however.

The main worry is not to be a laughing stock as our incompetant goverment balls it all up. As for over budget i think the 9bn being branded is optimistic to say the least. Wont be surprised to see it go well over that and that wont be good in the current financial situation. Still we have it and hopefully we can put on a good games. Maybe have Peter Sucliffe on the next lot of slides on presentations lol.:greengrin

So, only 4 years to go :greengrin

Four years of increasingly glutinous propaganda (sorry - NEWS STORIES) about the preparations, and nightly appearances by His Mayorship Boris and Lord Seb Coe telling us all how absolutely toppingly spiffing it's all going to be for Britain.

(While raking in the kickbacks, both of them.)

Will it be on budget?

You're ARE joking? Not a snowball's chance in a very hot place that it'll be on budget. Expense will not be spared, and we'll be paying for it long after I'm dead.

Are there any events in Scotland?

VERY unlikely. Maybe a couple of early and insignificant football matches - IF we're very good boys and girls and stop talking about independence....

How many potential life saving drugs will be sidelined to pay for it all?

More than we will ever be told about.

s well as building projects in education and health, and funding for all sorts of community projects anywhere outside the Greater London Area.

Quite seriously - people will die early and unnecessarily, just to pay for Gordie's Flumtastic Legacy.

You'll gather I'm not a fan....

Should be a good spectacle for all interested.........?

Clearly its gonna go over budget, but if the SNP gets there way in 2010  it wont matter to us folk over the border anway.

& as for the 2012 london games not benefiting anywhere else I cant hear folk moaning about the 2014 commonwealth games benefiting anyone south of the border & i cant see the facilities being upgraded etc......on Glasgows not very good attempt to pay their council tax

personally i cant wait for them both:agree:
