If both houses have a sky dish then can a subscribed Sky box be moved between the two houses without any bother (e.g. is it the Sky card that makes the difference so it's as easy as just plugging the box in)?

Cheers for any help

It will matter if either of the houses are still within the one year contract signing or if any have multiroom. Both of which require the telephone line to be connected to the box, which inturn reports data back to Sky.

Still within 12 months so does that mean that the Sky channels won't work without the phone line or does it just mean that Sky won't be receiving the data?

You will still receive Sky.
Your box will still record the data but will be unable to send it to Sky, until you reconnect the phone in.
If this is for a short period of time, you could always be decoring the room.
you may get a warning letter about the phone being disconnected and stating that you are infringing on your T&C's.
