we bit of advice from any of you out there :greengrin
looking to move out of my parents house pretty soon. wanting to know how much everything costs and if it would all be financially viable without me not having two pennys to rub together once all bills are paid off.
i have talked to various people about it but wanting a broader opinion. i have roughly 3 grands worth of savings in teh bank, which some of which would obv cover deposit and the like. and having talked to some espc people and actually having a we nosey around potential flats to rent the sort of price im looking at is around £600ish for my basic rent each would get me somethin adequete for my needs.
wanting to know from people that have paid teh bills and all before  how much things actually cost, things likes electricity, water, gas, council tax and any other general house hold bills. i had in mind a figure of around £300ish on top of the actual basic rent? this could be way out but iv been told its fairly realistic. opinions please?
not wanting this to include food or anything like weekend hitting the town budget or money for any luxurys on top.

Depends how big the place is and how many people living there, however based on a one bed place and just you living there I would guess the following;
Gas - £20
Electricity - £20-£25
Council Tax - £80-£130 (depends on banding but remember you get a 25% discount if you are living on your own, this also includes your water charges).
TV licence - £12
Phone - £15
Sky tv - £30 (optional obviously and this price is based on a pretty basic package, it will be more if you want the whole lot).
Internet - £20 (again optional and you can probably get it cheaper than this if you shop around and go for a basic deal).
The other thing to bear in mind is that if you are planning on renting a newish flat then most will have a factoring charge which may not be included in the rent, this is usually around £40-£60 per month.
Seems your £300 budget is about right. Living on your own is pricey!!
Also 17 seems very young to be living alone, I know its a nightmare living with your parents at that age and you just want your freedom but I would recommend sticking with them for at least another year if you can manage it. I was desperate to move out at 17 but just could not afford it, in hindsight staying at home for another couple of years was the best thing for me and I moved out when I was 19 and earning more cash.

thanks a lot mate, its pretty much everything that i had budgeted for tbh, never heard of a factoring charges and that seems like a bit of a stinker :no way: would really hope to get as low a band of council tax as possible because it can make a fair difference :agree: im fairly close to making the move likes, after all theese charges basic rent plus teh above, it would leave me around £300 to play with which i personally think is livable on. the good thing about renting though is that with some savings to back it up, if it does start to go pear shaped there is always a bed back with my parents, although this would be a deffinate last resort :agree:

£300 may seem like a lot to live on but when you split that out over the month its going to be approximately £75 per week which equates to just over a tenner a day. You would need to be very careful with your cash to get by on that, bear in mind you still need to budget for all food, cleaning products & household items - not to mention travel expenses for work etc. and luxuries like clothes ,CDs, football tickets... the list goes on.
Think about it very carefully, you should maybe do a trial period while you are still with your folks to see if you can live on £300 a month with buying all your own food and household items.

With sensible cooking you could live easily on a tenner a day. However don't forget to count in things like bus fares/petrol/newspapers/porno mags etc. They all add up.
Also watch for factoring fees i rented a flat in edinburgh and the fee was £70 a month. and i now pay £60 a month for my flat i bought 18 months ago

Jesus me bob - 900 for a flat and bills.
I certainly could not live on 300quid a month, **** that.
Better staying with your folks milking it until the markets comes down a lot!
If you can face living at home a bit longer then try saving the £6/700 a month towards a deposit for your own place in a couple of years time
