Just came past St Giles on the Royal Mile and there are loads of police there. At least 10 police vans parked at the back of it. And theres a red carpet leading into the cathedral.

Anyone know whats happening?

I don't know for certain, but I would guess that with the Queen being in town that there may be an investiture of someone into the Order of the Thistle as that takes place at St. Giles.

Probably something to do with the tax dodging, leeching, sour faced old boot that is our head of state.

Come come, she only costs us 66p a year (allegedly).

Yes, Betty Battenburg is in town.

Adam Smith.

Betty is up here for her usual jaunt to the provinces before heading up to her Highland retreat.

The Garden Party at Holyrood was yesterday.

The scones were very nice but the tea was rather watery and they ran out of milk.

She cost me more than that in one day yesterday with the lengthy traffic delays caused as a result of her effing garden party!

Sooner she howks it back down to London the better! :agree:

Well there is that - she allegedly costs us 66p each a year, but surely that cannot cover the costs of her security detail, travel arrangements but not least, the inconvenience of her being around for the folks who need to get on with their real lives.

We should keep her in one place. Legoland Windsor, for example.

to be honest, i cant really see it going on for much futher than charlie boy.

they will make themselves extinct.

then be relegated to the pages of OK, Cosmopolitan and other magazines as a bizarre, human-interest freak show; a testament to generations of inbreeding, opulence and decadent wealth, with no firm grip on the realities of life for the majority of people beyond their palace gates - forgotten by the very same simpletons who by their forelock tugging and pathetic deference, kept them in their ivory tower.

its all rather bleak to be honest and a bit pointless.

no need for political moves to get rid of them - there are more important things afoot, i think you'd agree.
