LRT Balls up again (http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/topstories/Six-injured-after-triple-bus.4238633.jp)

Heard about this at work this morning....6 people injured after 3 buses pile into each other on Broomhouse Road.

The buses were on those guided busway things which makes it even more of a farce....

How did the driver in the 3rd bus fail to notice the 2nd bus wisnae moving....I can understand the 2nd bus not realising the 1st bus had brakes suddenly...its a complete joke....

LRT need to hire better drivers IMO....

I work on Lothian Road and the amount of times i have watched the 22 come hurling round the corner like a Lewis Hamilton is driving it is unbelievable....it was only a matter of time before this happened :agree:

Luckily nobody lost their life.....:agree:

the problem isn't helped by new drivers to the company (most being foreign or just passed test) being put on certain routes ... and the 22 is one of them, It is a stupid idea as the 22 is a very busy route and weaves through some of the busiest roads and junctions in the city ....

Thing is though it suits Lothian Buses to put new starts on the single-decks because of the different contract/conditions they are on compared to their double-deck colleagues.

if you think its so easy come and try it. with a company our size there are going to be bad examples.

the amount of accidents i avoid having each and every day is staggering.

baldy is correct that its new starts and forgieners that are mostly on the 22s. they have to drive to timetables that are impossible to keep and through the most roadworks in the history of roadworks . they have very little experience and to be thrown in like they are is the companys fault not the drivers.

Nowt to do wi foreign drivers ..in fact some o the foreign drivers can handle the buses better than the local yokels ...my bro drove the 22 & other buses through the guided route many times ...you being a bus driver will very well know that the guiding wheels take over ..the driver can take his foot off the pedals ...wrong yes but they do it ...it stinks of driver error imo..not because they were Jonny foreigner...:blah:

Absolutely. It looks like a lack concentration from one of the drivers, nothing to do with where he/she comes from.

Lot of Polish lads at my depot, all good guys and more importantly good drivers.

The drivers who get the single deckers need to be more aware of how they are driving....was on a 22 tonight and it was an awful ride tbh.....surely's there's a limit to how many people can be standing on the bus? it's was like mental on the bus.....the shenanigans included: -

- An elderly lady demanding that someone gives her a seat
- passengers almost sitting in the drivers cab
- dashing about for seats like it was musical chairs.....

Fairplay to the lady drivers tho....they are far more curteous and seem to be able to handle the bus better than the majority of the males :agree::agree:

Wouldn't say it is entirely the bus drivers and LRT at fault. I travel on buses very frequently and, most of the time, it is other road users/drivers that are a fault by not indicating, failing to stop at red lights etc - the buses are 99.9% safe to travel on, the small percentage of times is when drivers are faced with abusive comments and actions from passengers who think its ok to shout, scream, swear etc at the driver and other passengers.

The majority of bus drivers do a brilliant job, are cheerful, courteous and excellent drivers. All the arrogant, ill mannered awkward gits seem to drive the LRT Airlink 100. The majority of them seem to think you getting on their bus if you're not going/coming airport is a major inconvenience.
