Indeed, I was on a fire fighting/dive support ship at the time and we were there trying to put the fire out, harrowing.

You have got me thinking though, I am pretty sure it was in July!!!!

It was to be honest mate, but it is one of these things you don't think about, just the poor buggers who were actually on the platform. But, as always, there is humour to be found in everything. Our seamen were down in the rescue craft, going through teh flotsam, looking for bodies etc. One particular chap ( a Scouser as will become evident) came back on board all excited, called me out the kitchen and said he had made a killing, he had found a case of Benson and Hedges, still intact. 50 cartons of ciggies going cheap!!!!

I worked on the memorial service in Aberdeen. The entire sity came to a halt, Marks and Spencer told their staff they wouldn't shut the shop for an hour so the staff said they would walk out of they didn't. They shut.
